The National Park System is America's most popular federal agency for good reason - National parks offer a rich and authentic experience of America's natural beauty, with protections that ensure the long-term conservation of ecosystems, wildlife, and historical landmarks. Unlike national forests, which allow activities like logging and mining, national parks prioritize ecological integrity and recreational enjoyment, providing cleaner landscapes and more pristine habitats. For visitors seeking awe-inspiring scenery, educational opportunities, and a deeper connection to untouched wilderness, national parks represent the gold standard in public land stewardship.
Now more than ever, national parks need our support as they face increasing pressure from climate change, overcrowding, and shifting political priorities. With the administration signaling potential cuts to environmental protections and public land funding, the future of these treasured places is uncertain. Maintenance backlogs, staffing shortages, and threats to biodiversity make it critical for citizens to advocate for strong protections and consistent investment. National parks are not only iconic landscapes - they're vital sanctuaries for wildlife, history, and future generations.
NOVA Trailblazers members are avid adventurers who love the outdoors. Getting involved isn't a prerequisite - but it helps to preserve the scenery, the ecosystems, and the connections that bring us all together. Helping keep our public lands alive and beautiful benefits not only those who enjoy them today, but future generations who have yet to experience our amazing planet. To get involved, join one of the Unite for Parks events, sign the Unite petition, or join a session on Capitol hill.
